Isaiah 55:8-9
- Human Logic or Immorality?
For My
thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says
the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so
are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
God
has His own way of thinking about things. Our logic is limited.
God has His own logic.
It is the
ways and thoughts of the wicked that God's ways and thoughts are contrasted,
not the ways and thoughts of human logic in general. It is a
moral statement, not a logical one. See vs. 7 "Let the wicked forsake
his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts."
Philippians
4:13 - Christian Motivation or Endurance?
I can
do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
We
can do anything we set our mind to.
We can be
content in any circumstance, even when we suffer and lack.
Isaiah 14:12-15
12 - Satan or Sennacherib?
How you
are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are
cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have
said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my
throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the
congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above
the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.'
Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of
the Pit.
This
is the story of an angel named Lucifer who became Satan when he fell
from heaven while trying to overthrow God.
"Lucifer"
is not the proper name of an angelic being. "Lucifer" is a transliteration
of the Latin translation for "Light Bringer." The Greek words are
"Day Star." While this may reflect the story of Satan's fall
(i.e. Luke 10:18; Rev. 12), this prophecy refers to King Sennacherib.
Romans 8:16
- Our Witness or God's?
The Spirit
Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Refers
to a subjective experience from the Spirit whereby He bears witness
"to" our spirits, comfirming to us that we are God's children.
The verse
actually says that God's Spirit bears witness "with"our spirits; not
"to" our spirits (Deuteronomy 19:15; Matthew 18:16; 2 Corinthians
13:1).
Revelation
3: 15 - 16 - Unsaved better than Saved?
I know
your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you
were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither
cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
God
would rather we not believe in Him at all than to be "Lukewarm Christians".
Both
cold and hot water flowed into Laodicea - and they were both useful.
The first for its refreshing properties, and the second for healing.
Sometimes the water arrived lukewarm and was spit out for it was not
good for either. God does not wish anyone to perish.
1 Corinthians
2:2 - Anti-Intellectualism or Anti-Immaturity?
For I
determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and
Him crucified.
The
crucifixion should be the only thing we preach.
Paul was having
to put up with the immaturity of the Corinthians and thus kept his
preaching elementary things (Acts 20:27).
Revelation
3:20 - The hearts of sinners or saved?
"Behold,
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens
the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Jesus
is "knocking" at the door of the heart of the lost.
Jesus is calling believers back to fellowship with God.
Ephesians
4:26 - Settle anger or Stay angry?
do not
let the sun go down on your wrath
Settle
all disputes before you go to sleep.
Be angry, and do not sin. Be angry against sin and always be vigilant.
Never let the day of your anger against sin come to an end.
