Salvation Prayer
Have you decided to receive Christ's gift of eternal
life? If so, you need to tell Him. If you agree with the following suggested
prayer, use it as a guide to your own prayer to God right now. The words
do not have to be exact - it's not a magic formula. If you disagree with
any of these statements, you should search your heart to find out why.
Dear God, thank you for loving me. Thank
you for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for my sins. I know that I am
a sinner and that I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ
died for me, was buried, and was raised from the dead. I receive Christ
as my Savior and the Lord of my life. Please help me to turn from sin
and to be the person You created me to be. I love You Lord. In
Jesus' name, Amen.
If you said that prayer and meant
what you said then you are saved and you will go to Heaven to be with
God forever. When you begin to doubt this (everyone does at some point,
Satan is not happy about this and will do all he can to disturb you)
turn to 1 John 5:11-13. Remember that this is God speaking - not Satan,
not your friends, and not your family. He is the only true God and cannot
lie. Therefore, if you believe, you are saved!
"These things I have written to
you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
in order that you may know that you have eternal life"
1 John 5:13
What now?
- If you do not own a Bible, or if you have trouble
understanding the translation you have, I suggest going to a Christian
bookstore or other bookstore and get an easier to read translation like
the New english Translation (NET) or the New International Version (NIV).
Try to stay away from paraphrases (like the Living Bible), they will
not sound the same as your church's, and are not good for study. Start
reading it, at least a little, every day. Pray about what you have read
afterwards, and ask God to make it meaningful in your life. I would
begin with the Gospel of John. Then the other gospels (Matthew, Mark,
and Luke), each of these tells Jesus' story from a different perspective.
Then I would go to Acts and from there to the end. After you have read
the New Testament, try Genesis - Exodus, Proverbs...well, by the time
you get here you should be well on your way!
- Next, find a good, Bible-teaching church, and
get into fellowship with some strong Christians who can help you to
grow in Christ.
- Start telling people the good news that you now
believe and learn how to defend it.
God Bless you!
"Your sins are forgiven"
Luke 7:48
