Finding Nemo Review

Style

Pixar, as usual, absolutely nailed it. The animation is tight and the attention to detail is breathtaking. It's rated "G" so no cussing, nudity (well, at least not human!), or gratuitous violence. Excellent all the way around.

Story

The story revolves around a father's search for his lost son. The father must overcome his fear of danger and his son must overcome his slight inferiority complex that results in rebellion. Great story of friends helping one another and risking it all for family.

Suppositions

Other than talking fish and kind sharks we are not asked to stretch reality too far for this genre. There is little in the way of propaganda as well (c.f. Disney's Bambi). There is a probable supposition of macro-evolution when Dory says, "Give it up old man, you can't fight evolution, I was built with speed!" but it could just as easily be interpreted as micro-evolution within the fish species (since they are both fish!). So I did not count off for that.

Significance

The significance is obvious - love overcomes fear, family comes first, friends should help one another . . . great stuff that presents the truth and avoids pandering to bleeding heart sentimentality.
