Dodgeball Review

Style

Rated PG-13 for crude, rude, sexual humor, and language all completely unnecessary and distracting from what was a funny idea for a story. A PG rated version would have made the movie better.

Story

OK, making Dodgeball a professional sport . . . how can you go wrong? Very well done story about the owner / crews of two competing gyms that end up in Las Vegas for the national Dodgeball Championship. It's your standard seemingly invincible bad guys vs. underdog misfit good guys tale.

Suppositions

The ridiculous nature of this whole film makes for very fun jabs at reality. Several cartoon-violence scenes that are rather unbelievable and dangerous but overall just a silly movie.

Significance

The message the movie sends derives from, and is practically demanded by, the story's cookie-cutter plotline: fight for what you want and don't let the bad guys win. Not bad for a comedy these days.
